Dr. Kimball presents her research at ACC-RAC!
This weekend, Dr. Kimball is presenting her research at the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Research Agenda Conference (ACC-RAC). She completed research on impostor phenomenon, which was published online in the Journal of Chiropractic Education in 2020 and will be available in print later this year. Her article, titled "Impostor phenomenon among US chiropractic students," evaluated the rate of impostor phenomenon at two campuses of one chiropractic college.
Dr. Kimball's research found that impostor phenomenon, which is defined as feelings of self-doubt and the belief that one is unintelligent, was found in over a third of all chiropractic students and was significantly more common in females than males. Nearly half of all females experienced impostor phenomenon.
Dr. Kimball is also the co-author of a poster presentation at ACC-RAC, titled "Upper cervical chiropractic and secretory IgA: A prospective, multicenter, observational pilot study." This study explored how secretory IgA (SIgA) changes after a chiropractic adjustment to the upper cervical area, also known as the upper neck. SIgA plays an important role in the immune system and serves as a strong first defense against pathogens. This pilot study observed a significant increase in SIgA immediately following an upper cervical adjustment.
While ACC-RAC is being held virtually this year, Dr. Kimball is looking forward to sharing her research with her colleagues as well as learning more about the latest chiropractic research! She believes that staying up to date on current research contributes to her ability to provide the best care to her patients.
